Progress is being made on our 270,000 sq m Skolkovo Business Park in the Odintsovsky District of Moscow, Russia on behalf of Zareyche Developments, part of the Millhouse LLC group.

Scott Brownrigg won the competition to undertake the masterplanning of Skolkovo Park in early 2013. Following an initial design submission, the practice was selected from a shortlist of three and was immediately engaged to start work on the 270,000 sq m site.

Upon completion, Skolkovo Business Park is expected to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating and be the first in a series of buildings of this type in Russia to receive the accreditation.

The latest visit to Moscow by Scott Brownrigg CEO, Darren Comber provided the opportunity to visit the construction site for Skolkovo Park, also referred to as the Russian Silicon Valley.

Darren said: “It’s always interesting and extremely satisfying to experience construction sites of this magnitude underway at this stage. The sense of what will be is evident and to envisage the life and vitality that will be experienced above the current labyrinth of concrete that will soon become reality.”

The structure is really starting to emerge, with the pilings added across the site and the basements well underway.

Designed around a central landscaped space with infinity pools and woodland, the business park will provide six 14,300 sq m office buildings. One of the notable design elements will be a set of striking 25m high bronze columns at the entrance to the park. The buildings will be covered in unitised curtain walling modules with double glazed panels and an anodised aluminum façade system. Sustainable features of the project include the use of ice stored below ground to passively cool the buildings and a district heating system.

Scott Brownrigg’s masterplan has taken into consideration the overall experience of arrival, quality landscape, social interaction, the retail experience, the wider Skolkovo context and how the buildings and setting will combine and appear to define a language of restrained elegance. The buildings also incorporate multi-storey car parks and 10,000 sq m of retail space.

The first class facilities will deliver an exceptional and inspirational working environment and ensure its recognition globally as a benchmark for future business park design.
