Sustainability

Sustainability

As architects and designers, we are uniquely placed to initiate discussions with clients and the design team on environmental and sustainable design issues and advise on options and opportunities.

We are signatories of the Architects Declare movement, and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge and are one of few architects to have signed up to the UN Global Compact. These commitments inform our environmental objectives and targets.

Our Head of Sustainability reports to the Operations Board and has responsibility for setting targets for the practice and for projects, ensuring that these are met. These include targeting net zero carbon on our projects. Our Sustainability Toolkit together with our sustainability and Passivhaus experts assist project teams in delivering against these targets and records progress across the practice.

WELL Accreditation

Our approach to health and wellbeing is part of our commitment to a sustainable built environment and is supported by our investment in WELL Accredited Professionals.

The built environment has become one of the largest determinants of overall health, be that physical, mental, or social. Health and wellness measures sit alongside safety measures as an essential part of our design progress. We consider how our design solutions impact the physical and mental experience of the environment, not just to support good health but also to create inclusive, people-focused spaces that allow occupants to thrive.

Our WELL Accredited Professionals provide advice and guidance for projects through the WELL certification and are committed to an integrated design approach that will be instrumental in regenerating the built environment and designing spaces that enrich lives.
